If Marvel Studios is looking to revive one of its most underrated Iron Man villains, then ‘VisionQuest’ may be the ideal setting. While the upcoming Disney+ series is expected to explore Vision’s journey after ‘WandaVision’, there’s a compelling theory that Justin Hammer could emerge as its main antagonist.

Justin Hammer Has Every Reason To Target Vision

Hammer’s potential appearance will also give Marvel the chance to bring back a character that has been languishing on the back burner for over 10 years. The idea just makes sense as it seems like parts of the ‘Armor Wars’ are being used for ‘VisionQuest’.

Justin Hammer was a weapons manufacturer who desperately wanted to be able to compete with Tony Stark, as we saw him in ‘Iron Man 2’. He is a charismatic, ambitious, and sometimes hilariously insecure character who strives to live up to Stark’s reputation.

However, beneath his awkward personality is a businessman willing to go to considerable lengths to acquire advanced technology. Hammer’s fascination with Stark’s inventions makes him the obvious choice to come back in ‘VisionQuest‘. After all, Vision isn’t just another advanced android.

His body was originally made from vibranium and advanced technology, and his consciousness is linked to JARVIS, Tony Stark’s AI, and Ultron. After ‘WandaVision’, Vision’s new body set out to remember his past and his identity.

That puts him in a potentially dangerous position if someone like Hammer discovers what he is capable of. For a man who has spent years trying to catch up with Stark, getting his hands on Vision could be the ultimate opportunity.

The theory takes an even more interesting turn when looking at the long-developing and now cancelled Marvel project, ‘Armor Wars’. It was initially announced as a Disney+ series starring Don Cheadle’s James Rhodes. The story was expected to explore what happens when Stark technology falls into the wrong hands, making Hammer a particularly fitting antagonist.

‘Armor Wars’ was later cancelled as an individual project, but parts of the story have reportedly been used for ‘VisionQuest’. If the information turns out to be correct, then Hammer’s return would make sense.

It’s also been rumored that Hammer might develop a version of AI named Jocasta that is linked to Ultron in the Marvel Comics universe to search for or capture Vision. This is not confirmed, but Jocasta’s comic book past makes her an interesting possibility for the series. Nothing yet has solidified Hammer as the main antagonist, but the pieces work surprisingly well.
