For fans hoping to see Oscar Isaac’s ‘Moon Knight’ return for a second season, the latest update from Marvel Studios isn’t very encouraging. Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Brad Winderbaum, confirmed that there are no current plans for Moon Knight season 2.
He also reassured fans that the character will return in other MCU projects. However, for fans of the show, it’s hard not to feel let down by this news. That said, there’s still hope as Moon Knight’s story still isn’t over.
‘Moon Knight’ Was Proposed As A Limited Series

Brad Winderbaum explained that Marvel’s TV development strategy has evolved. The first wave of MCU shows, including Moon Knight, was largely intended to introduce characters who would then transition into other films or series. Unlike recent shows designed for multiple seasons, Moon Knight was initially conceived as a limited series.
While Winderbaum acknowledged that he would love to see a second season, Marvel’s current priorities are different. “We’re making shows as shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television. I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road,” Brad told Comicbook.
For those holding out hope for a direct continuation of Marc Spector’s story, this update is undoubtedly disappointing. The season 1 finale set up intriguing possibilities, particularly with the reveal of Lockley. Unfortunately, it now seems that those developments will unfold in a different project rather than a dedicated season 2.
Moon Knight’s MCU Future

While the absence of a second season stings, Brad Winderbaum also confirms that Moon Knight remains a key part of the MCU’s future. There are plenty of ways the character could return, from appearing in upcoming Avengers films to playing a role in ‘What If…?’.
Another possibility lies in the long-rumored debut of the Midnight Sons, which Oscar Isaac himself has expressed interest in. This would also allow the character to interact with other supernatural heroes like Blade, Ghost Rider, and Doctor Strange. Moreover, there’s potential for Moon Knight to thrive in a TV-MA setting.

The fact that Marvel still has plans for Moon Knight is a silver lining in an otherwise disappointing update. It’s frustrating that season 2 isn’t happening, especially considering the narrative potential left unexplored. However, the door isn’t completely closed on the character’s journey.
