Since ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness‘, Scarlet Witch has been one of the biggest mysteries in the MCU. The fate of Wanda Maximoff has never been resolved, but that has led to endless speculation about when and how she will return.
Now, a new theory is imagining a comeback that would keep her hidden in plain sight throughout ‘Avengers: Doomsday’.
Doom Might Use Wanda’s Chaos Magic For His Own Rise in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

Speculation indicates that Wanda might not be a character that’s immediately recognizable as a hero or a villain. Rather, she could spend almost the whole movie under the robes and mask of one of Doctor Doom’s enigmatic witches, and only reveal herself at the very end of the movie.

The theory goes that Doctor Doom has kidnapped Wanda and is using her superhuman Chaos Magic to enhance his own powers. Doom would harness Scarlet Witch’s magical abilities as the foundation of his expanding empire, and exploit her knowledge of witchcraft and protective runes.
If Marvel Studios kept Wanda fully masked, then they would be able to keep one of the biggest surprises in the film without having to show Elizabeth Olsen in promotional images. It would also explain why the mysterious witches seen alongside Doom appear so important despite their identities remaining unknown.
To add to the rumours, an online leak has also stated that Scarlet Witch is one of the masked witches, though a stand-in was used during filming as the character is still completely covered in robes and a mask. These claims have not yet been substantiated, but have generated much speculation among Marvel fans.
A Secret Reveal May Lead To ‘Secret Wars’

If the theory is correct, then Wanda’s name might not be revealed until a post-credit scene or even ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’. The reveal would instantly change everything that audiences had seen, turning one of Doom’s followers into one of the MCU’s most tragic prisoners.

It would also give Scarlet Witch a great emotional arc. Wanda may be another pawn in Doom’s game for total domination and may be waiting for the time to come when she can escape and stand up to him.
At this time, it’s just speculation, and Marvel Studios hasn’t confirmed Scarlet Witch’s presence in the films. Yet, following years of speculation about Wanda’s fate, it’s no wonder that rumors like this persist. If Marvel is planning a dramatic return for Scarlet Witch, hiding her in plain sight may be exactly the kind of twist the studio loves to deliver.
