In 2021 Marvel finally avenged Natasha Romanoff by delivering a solo project – ‘Black Widow‘. But as the credits of the film rolled in, it led the fans to believe that Scarlett Johansson‘s partnership with MCU has ended. However, Natasha Romanoff might have bid adieu to Marvel, but not Johansson.
Scarlett Johansson has had a long tortured history with Marvel, debuting as Natasha Romanoff in 2010’s ‘Iron Man 2‘, and since then Black Widow has been sidelined. Despite being part of eight different movies, Marvel Studios could not give Natasha an arc or a story of her own. And now Johansson has made an exciting deal with the Marvel boss Kevin Feige.

Scarlett Johansson Confirms The Marvel Secret Project
Recently during the press conference for ‘Asteroid City‘, Scarlett Johansson confirmed her involvement along with Kevin Feige for the Marvel secret project to Comic Book. It has been a couple of years since the project was last announced and there were no updates regarding it. However, Johansson confirms that it is still very much alive and it has nothing to do with Black Widow.
The ‘Lucy‘ actress said, “It is still happening. Yes. It is still happening, [but] not currently because nothing is happening right now. We’re all sort of in this holding pattern as we wait out the writers’ strike and potentially our own guild strike, and so on and so forth. Right before the strike, we were in the middle of developing it, and now everything is at a simmer”. The WGA strike has impacted several other Marvel projects including ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty‘, meaning that it will take a longer time than expected to discover what Feige and Johansson have been working on.

Scarlett Johansson Vs Disney Conflict
The Marvel Top Secret project was first announced by Kevin Feige after Scarlett Johansson had a public feud with Disney over how the studio decided to distribute ‘Black Widow‘. Due to the pandemic, the film was delayed and simultaneously was released in theaters as well as Disney+. According to Johansson’s lawyers, this arrangement was in breach of contract. Later in October 2021, Disney and the actress agreed to settle the legal dispute.
As of yet, there are no hints about the Marvel project that the two-time Oscar nominee and Kevin Feige are producing. However, Scarlett Johansson and Disney have settled their differences. While Marvel’s secret project is under wrap, Johansson is actively engaged in other projects including Wes Anderson’s ‘Asteroid City’, ‘My Mother’s Wedding’, and ‘Project Artemis’.
