Fans have been eagerly speculating about the mysterious character of Teen ever since he was introduced for the new Disney+ series ‘Agatha All Along‘. Played by rising star Joe Locke, very little is known about Teen besides that he helps free Agatha Harkness from her spell at the end of ‘WandaVision‘.
Locke has remained tight-lipped about his character’s identity and backstory to avoid spoiling surprises for viewers. While promoting the highly anticipated Marvel spin-off, Locke opened up about protecting Teen’s secrets. Here’s what he said.
Joe Locke Stays Shut On Teen’s Origins
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Joe Locke was asked directly about the many fan theories surrounding Teen’s true origins. Some believe he may be Agatha or Wanda’s son, while others have different ideas.
Locke responded that “the secrets are secrets for a reason”, assuring that Teen’s backstory is an interesting one. “If I was able to talk about it now, it would ruin the whole point of the show,” he said. He clarified that he wants viewers to experience Teen’s full story unfold without hints or confirmation of the various rumors.
Locke also joked that discussing his character now would mean he could “just tell you everything“.

While avoiding any real details, Locke expressed how much he enjoys playing such a mysterious character. He said Teen changes significantly from the early to late episodes so what fans think they know now may be surprised. Locke finds it “fun” to see the fan speculation and know there are still secrets left to uncover. He also called Teen “a complicated and mysterious character,” who provides an interesting challenge as an actor.

In ‘Agatha All Along‘, Teen joins the coven led by the titular character as they travel through different realities on the Witches’ Road. Locke said the dynamic on set was great, joking that growing up with strong women has prepared him for any scenario.
He acknowledged one memorable scene where Teen wants Agatha’s respect but she offers neither that “nor a fulfilling home life“. Locke said filming that abrupt first self-tape left him wondering what type of Disney+ show he was really making.

Locke also opened up about performing the catchy “Ballad of the Witches’ Road” that serves as the theme song. He said it’s been stuck in his head for two years now but calls it “a great song to have in my head“.
