‘Deadpool and Wolverine‘, directed by Shawn Levy is right around the corner and fans can’t stop buzzing about it. Levy has had a pretty long Hollywood career and has also been a fine and trusted confidant to Ryan Reynolds. He even pitched the idea of a third Deadpool film when ‘The Adam Project‘ was still in production.
While Levy has positioned himself firmly in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his upcoming work on ‘Deadpool and Wolverine‘, things could have gone quite differently if he had hopped on board for another superhero movie as revealed in an interview.

Shawn Levy Nearly Directed ‘The Flash’
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Levy opened up about his history with superhero blockbusters and cameos. While the 55-year-old-director is more known for his comedy hits like the ‘Night at the Museum‘ franchise, ‘This Is Where I Leave You‘ and ‘The Adam Project‘, he expressed interest in expanding into other genres and also often turned down massive comic book adaptations because he wants to ensure there is “a story worth telling“.
However, Levy said ‘The Flash‘ was “a brief moment in time” where he came very close to getting on board a superhero film for Warner Bros and DC, But for undisclosed reasons, the project never came to life with Levy at the helm.

After ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ is released, Levy may find himself with even more opportunities in the comic book genre. His deft handling of the R-rated Mutant team-up has sparked interest not in what he could bring to the MCU.
Though ‘The Flash’ evaded him, Levy got his superhero directing break with an even more highly-anticipated project in ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’.
‘Deadpool and Wolverine‘ will be in theatres globally on 26 July 2024.
