Top 10 Most Powerful Variants Of Thor

Marvel is set for its next theatrical release with Thor: Love And Thunder. Thor, the son of Odin and Frigga, is touted as the God Of Thunder in Asgard. The war between Asgard and Jotunheim, the Frost Giant-occupied realm led to his banishment to the Earth. In the new film, the audience will witness Thor Odinson and Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor coming together to fight Gorr The God Butcher. According to the Comics, the God of Thunder has more variants that are not introduced in the Cinematic Universe. Here are the top 10 most powerful Variants Of Thor.

10) Iron Hammer

The origin of Iron Hammer is interesting. When Gamora acquires the Infinity Stones, she captures all the souls in the Soul Gem. Gamora decides to fold the Universe into half which leads to a mesh of human beings. This leads to the creation of infused beings, which creates a Warp World, and in this world, Thor and Iron Man get merged and form an entity called Iron Hammer aka Stark Odinson. The life of Iron Hammer runs parallel to that of Thor. Iron Hammer loses all the previous memories and becomes a tech mogul.

9) Beta Ray Bill

What makes this variant of Thor interesting is the amalgamation of the rival comics DC and Marvel. Thor El is the combination of Thor Odinson from the Marvel Comics, and the ultimate Kryptonian from the DC Comics Superman aka Kal-El.

7) War Thor

The whole of Nine Realms gets involved in a War due to Odin’s destruction of the Bifrost. This leads to climatic change in all the realms instilling fear in the kingdoms and leading to the outbreak of war. During this war, from the tribe of Vanir emerges War Thor. The variant appears in the #20 Mighty Thor comic as a large, red-haired man named Volstagg picks up the hammer and becomes War Thor. He is just limited to The War of the Realms where he expels every warlord. War Thor envisions one flag for all realms and deems all citizens as Asgardians in the new Asgard.

6) The Ultimate Thor

The Ultimate Universe series shut in 2015 but gave the readers one of the strongest alternate versions, The Ultimate Thor. He deems to be a Norse god, the son of Odin. However, he works as an activist with left-leaning ideology in reality in Norway publishing books. In the Ultimate series, he opposes the American Military Aggression whilst joining the hands with Tony Stark.

5) Jane Foster

Taika Waititi’s latest Thor: Love & Thunder will bring Jane Foster aka Mighty Thor into the light. Jane Foster aka Mighty Thor had a journey from being a regular astrophysicist to wielding the powers of a god. And in the new film, she will have a stronger story arc. However, in Jason Aarons’ Comics version, Jane Foster gets detected with breast cancer hampering her physical health, but surprisingly, she became worthy to lift the magical hammer, Mjølnir.

Jane is skewed with superpowers like durability, speed, strength, and stamina, but like Thor, she is unable to wield the thunder power. In the teaser, we could see Thor going on a journey of self-discovery, but Jane has to pay a price for it! In the comics, while Thor is away, Jane takes up the role of the guardian while facing the increasing threat of her cancer. The woman possessing the hammer astonishes Thor, but he is more surprised to see Jane holding the Mjølnir.

4) MCU Thor

The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Thor debuted first in 2011. Throughout the three films, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor goes through a lot of turbulence by losing his parents, and his inability to hold the Mjølnir. Now, in the fourth installment, we see him join the Guardians of the Galaxy in the mission to defeat Gorr The God Butcher along with Natalie Portman’s Mighty Thor.

MCU Thor is one of the strongest Thor in all reality. He has time and again proved his might, whether it’s Dark Elves, Hela, Surtur, or maintaining balance in nine realms. Thor’s power level has increased drastically since his debut in the MCU. Thor is yet to utilize the potential of the Odinforce, which is not discussed much in the movies. Let’s hope that Watiti’s new storyline considers this possibility.

3) The Old King Thor

This variant of Thor is from the future Earth-14412. The Old King Thor becomes the father of Asgard resembling Odin more and less Thor. He loses his eye and an arm to gain knowledge in the realms. We may see his glimpse in the new film as he reunites with the past and presents Thor to defeat Gorr

2) Thor: The Herald Of Galactus

Jason Aaron’s new edition takes us on the journey of Thor becoming the Herald of Galactus. In the new comic, the narrative continues as Odin vacates the throne and Thor becomes the heir of the Asgard throne, but he is anxious about the new responsibilities and inability to lift the Mjølnir. No longer than sooner, Galactus collides in Asgard.

This collision is not an invasion, but a dread of the Black Winter. They come to know that the entity destroys the universe that Galactus comes from. So, to prevent Black Winter’s invasion Thor and Silver Surfer aid Galactus to gain power. However, Galactus was told that his fate is sealed at the hands of Thor. Therefore, Galactus employs Power Cosmic to transform Thor into the Herald of Thunder.

This variant is the most powerful one that fought Doom and won. Phoenix force is a sentient cosmic force that moves around the realms in search of a worthy host. When it came to Earth, it was just in form of matter. Feron revitalizes it via magic creating the original Phoenix Force. After Old King Thor remains the last hero on earth in a vicious fight against Dr. Doom, He infuses with Phoenix and becomes the Old King Phoenix Thor.
