Scarlet Witch may be dead, but the MCU clearly isn’t done dealing with her legacy. With ‘VisionQuest’ arriving shortly before ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, the upcoming Disney+ series could provide the most important update yet on Wanda Maximoff’s supposed death.
While Elizabeth Olsen’s return remains unconfirmed, the story of Vision rebuilding his identity almost guarantees that Wanda’s presence, or absence, will hang over the series.
‘VisionQuest’ Will Not Ignore Wanda’s Death
‘VisionQuest’ picks up years after the events of ‘WandaVision’, with Paul Bettany’s Vision trying to understand what he has become. According to showrunner Terry Matalas, Vision will have a perspective on Wanda very early in the story and will be forced to confront feelings connected to his past.

“He is in the process of working through quite a few things, and tapping back into those feelings of who he was, which is all stored inside him, but might be painful to access. Vision will definitely have a perspective on Wanda very early on. And he has a point of view on her death,” he told TV Insider.
That makes perfect sense. Vision’s relationship with Wanda was one of the defining parts of his original life, and losing her is another reminder that the man walking around the MCU isn’t the same Vision audiences once knew.
The series will reportedly spend considerable time inside Vision’s mind as he questions what it means to be himself. That setup gives the show plenty of room to explore his memories, emotions, and relationship with Wanda without needing to bring Scarlet Witch back physically. And honestly, that may make her absence hit harder.
Could Wanda Still Return Before ‘Doomsday’?
Marvel has already established that death doesn’t necessarily mean goodbye, especially in a saga built around alternate universes and variants. Wanda’s death was confirmed after ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’. However, that hasn’t stopped speculation about Elizabeth Olsen returning.

Matalas has specifically warned fans not to interpret his comments as teasing Wanda, which is important. For now, there is no confirmation that Scarlet Witch appears in ‘VisionQuest’. Still, the timing is impossible to ignore.
If ‘VisionQuest’ ends only weeks before ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, any major revelation involving Wanda, Vision, or the multiverse could potentially have consequences for the larger story. Marvel could use the series to establish Wanda’s death as permanent, or leave just enough uncertainty for ‘Doomsday’ to pull the rug out from under everyone.
