‘Secret Invasion’ marked the beginning of Skrull taking over the planet. The shape-shifting creatures have infiltrated the higher government rankings as part of Gravik’s plan. Because of their shape-shifting tendencies, it is hard to trust anyone, as they can be a Skrull ranging from Nick Fury to James Rhodes.
Rhodes has been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2008’s ‘Iron Man’. Often sidelined by the Avengers, Marvel’s ‘Secret Invasion’ will be the first time James Rhones has finally gotten the spotlight. Since episode one, the series has been brutally killing off characters including Agent Maria Hill to Emilia Clark’s G’iah. With the release of episode four, fans are pondering whether James Rhodes is still alive.

Is James Rhodes A Skrull?
There are many theories on how to identify a Skrull, and the fans have theorized that James Rhodes would turn out to be a Skrull from the very beginning. Supporting this theory are clues such as his failure to pass Nick Fury’s “nobody calls me Nick” test and his suspicious behavior while firing Fury in episode 2. However, in episode 4, all of the speculations turned out to be true.
It turns out that Raava has taken up the identity of Rhodes. Raava is a Skrull working alongside Gravik to take over the Earth. Although, in the comics, Raava is a minor character who appears in the Black Bolt series. Her role in ‘Secret Invasion’ is new for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which means her movements are tough to predict. The Skrull Rhodey is motivated on removing Nick Fury from the equation, however, the reason is still unknown and threatens Priscilla.

‘Secret Invasion‘: Is James Rhodes Dead?
The way events are taking turns in ‘Secret Invasion’, it might not be startling if James Rhodes is dead. The death of War Machine would actually be a huge deal, so it is safe to assume that the real Rhodey is still alive in ‘Secret Invasion’. Since Raava has taken up the identity of James Rhodes, the real Rhodes will most probably be stored at the Skrull terrorists’ laboratory.
The Skrull leader, Gravik, and his followers store the humans they impersonate inside a laboratory. The only bright side is that the humans in the laboratory are still alive but unconscious. This might be the only way, real Rhodey is alive during the entire course of ‘Secret Invasion’.
