Marvel Cinematic Universe is bringing new characters with the help of Multiverse and time travel. Phase Five has recently started but it seems like the beginning has not been up to the mark. ‘Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania’ was released on February 17, 2023, following a long schedule of delays but the reviews proved that the critics were not so impressed with the film.
The basic storyline features Scott Lang and his family members unintentionally entering Quantum Realm. While they encounter new creatures inside the Quantum Realm, they also discover Kang, a time-traveling, multiversal adversary, who is planning to get released from the Quantum Realm. Despite featuring an adventurous plot, the reviews have been mixed. Let’s check why.

1. Lack Of Humor Compared To The First Two Films
The first two ‘Ant-Man’ films featured the best jokes and humorous sequences that kept the audiences hooked to their seats. However, things were a little bit different this time and because the setting was entirely different, there was less humor than in the first two films which worked negatively for the film. It’s not that the film does not have any humorous scenes, they are worse than the jokes we have heard before.
2. Wrapping Up The Entire Film In A Rush
With Quantum Realm, MCU has tried to include a lot of characters in the film. But when you reach the climax, it seems like ‘Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania’ has been wrapped up without taking any break because things look like they are rushed. This is the reason why the film fails to explain more about the Quantum Realm and now the rest of the questions must be answered by the Multiverse Saga.
3. ‘Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania’ Sets Up The Future Of MCU
The best thing that MCU has done in all these years is that the projects have succeeded in setting up the future of the MCU. The same has happened in ‘Ant-Man 3’ and exploring the Quantum Realm and Kang’s introduction could play an important role in setting up the future of the Multiverse Saga. The film has offered an idea of the upcoming phases and Kang could be the main villain with the rest of the heroes taking the responsibility to defeat him.

4. Film Lacks The Emotional Connect
The film’s storyline lacks an emotional connection with the audience despite that it features a father-daughter relationship between Scott and Cassie. The trailers of the film teased that the film will focus on their relationship and the film also featured a moment where Scott had to enter a deal with Kang to save his daughter. But the moment is not used properly in the entire film and although Scott and Cassie are reunited in the end, it does not leave an emotional impact.
5. Kang Is Wasted As A Villain In ‘Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania’
All those who have read the comic books know very well that Kang is a great villain with a lot of superpowers. Considering that he was confronting Ant-Man this time, audiences were expecting to witness a more intimidating side of the character and specifically because he was appearing in a film. Although Jonathan Majors’ performance has been praised, people said that he did not get much screen space, which is true.
