If you’re a millenial there is a great chance that you have grown up watching the classic coming-of-age cult film ‘The Princess Diaries‘.
To watch a perfect integration of fairy tales and romantic comedies is all a girl could ask for. From awkward school days to royal makeovers, Mia Thermopolis gave every girl hope that maybe, just maybe, there was a crown waiting in her future too.
Here are a few movies that ignite the same feeling as they did in ‘The Princess Diaries’.
10. Bride Wars (2009)
The friendship of two best friends, Emma and Olivia, is put to a pressure test when they end up having their weddings on the same date due to a clerical error, to add more spice at the same venue that both of them had dreamt of as their wedding venue, The Plaza.
Neither of them is willing to adjust and sabotage each other’s weddings to no end. Two bridezillas in the same venue, well, a war is inevitable.

9. Miss Congeniality (2000)
When the only way to do away with terrorists is not arms but with beauty. A tomboyish FBI agent goes undercover as a contestant in the Miss United States beauty pageant.
Gracie Hart, the only female FBI agent, has to go through a makeover so she can at least look the part of a contestant and deal with a terrorist bombing threat at the same time. Oh! How wonderful it is to be a pageant with a gun in the garter.

7. Monte Carlo (2011)
Grace Bennet, a café waitress with an ordinary life, travels to Paris with her friends expecting nothing more than a simple getaway. Instead, she is pulled into a world of glamour and high society when she is discovered to be the exact lookalike of British heiress Cordelia Winthrop-Scott.
Soon, Grace steps into Cordelia’s place at an exclusive charity event in Monte Carlo, where she meets Theo Marchand, the host’s son. As she navigates this unfamiliar life of luxury and secrets, the line between her real identity and the role she is playing begins to fade.
6. Clueless (1995)
This is the ultimate ‘90s rom-com glow-up story. Cher Horowitz is the ‘IT Girl’ of Beverly Hills High its like her personal Paris Fashion Week. The showstopper is her digital closet and her unshakeable confidence.
Eventually, she starts matchmaking people in her high school, and gives them makeover sessions and love advice, which turns out to complicate her life way more than she expected. Ultimately, she gets a reality check that she doesn’t know everything in the end.

5. 13 Going on 30 (2004)
It is a cute feel good and nostalgic movie about how a 13-year-old, Jenna Rink, wishes to be a grown-up on her birthday. Surprisingly, she wakes up to find out that her wish came true. She has a stylish apartment and a cool job.
The problem is she is a 13-year-old in the body of a 30-year-old. She has a job and realises living the grown-up life isn’t as fun as it seems. While figuring out who she became, she misses the people and parts of her she left in the past. The one constant person was her best friend, Mark.
4. Mean Girls (2004)
Cady Heron transfers to a high school from being homeschooled in Africa. A high school that is crazier than the wildlife Cady had been in. A high school with many cliques. One of them being The Plastics lead by the one and only Regina George.
With the former intent to bring down the plastics, Cady got too involved in that world. Cady started falling for Aaron Sameuls, Regina’s ex. Now, what is a high school journey without a catfight over the same boy?
3. Wild Child (2008)
This one portrays a spoiled brat, Poppy Moore, who is shipped off to England to a boarding school as a consequence of her line-crossing prank. She tries a thousand ways to get expelled and leave the hellhole.
In the meantime, she actually gets attached to her roommates. Somewhere between school traditions, prank chaos, and a cute British boy, she begins to change for real.
2. First Daughter (2004)
This one is about a girl from political royalty who decides to lead a normal college life, but her plans only go south. Samantha Mackenzie, the president’s daughter, wishes to live a normal college life like any other student.
She no longer wants to live the life that gives her zero privacy. On campus, she dives headfirst into dorm life, makes new friends, and goes to parties. She also starts falling for the sweet, charming guy down the hall, who seems refreshingly normal and totally gets her. But how long does her plan work?
1. Legally Blonde (2001)
Fun, empowering, and totally iconic, the story is about Elle Woods after she goes through a break-up. She decides to chase her ex all the way to Harvard Law School. Even though it starts as a plan to win him back quickly turns into her proving everyone wrong as people underestimate her for loving pink and fashion. Between tough classes, new friendships, and courtroom challenges.
