Christopher Nolan Wanted To Convey An Important Idea By Casting His Daughter In ‘Oppenheimer’
‘Oppenheimer’ has already created a heavy buzz due to its scientific and philosophical pondering of one of the world’s most destructive moments. Christopher Nolan made the news by revealing that his daughter will also be starring in a small role in the film.
During an interview with the Telegraph, he revealed that Flora will play a girl whose face gets harmed during the explosion in the protagonist’s mind.
Christopher Nolan said, “We needed someone to do that small part of a somewhat experimental and spontaneous sequence. So it was wonderful to just have her sort of roll with it.” He confirmed that it was a spontaneous casting decision he made.
In the interview, he revealed that by casting Flora, he wanted to convey a larger message. The director added, “But the point is that if you create the ultimate destructive power, it will also destroy those who are near and dear to you. I suppose this was my way of expressing that in what, to me, were the strongest possible terms.”

Christopher Nolan said, “Some people leave the movie absolutely devastated. They can’t speak. I mean, there’s an element of fear that’s there in the history and there in the underpinnings. But the love of the characters, the love of the relationships, is as strong as I’ve ever done.”
He added, “It is an intense experience, because it’s an intense story. I showed it to a filmmaker recently who said it’s kind of a horror movie. I don’t disagree.”
