10 ‘Harry Potter’ Book Elements Removed By Movies That Fans Want To See In The Reboot

While the Harry Potter films did manage to capture a lot of the magic from J.K. Rowling‘s beloved books, many memorable scenes, subplots, and characters didn’t make it to the big screen.

A new reboot series is currently in development, and fans are hoping that the depth of the books will be fully realized. From lovable characters like Peeves the Poltergeist to detailed storylines about Dumbledore’s mysterious past, here are 10 moments fans would love to see in the reboot.

1. Peeves The Poltergeist

Peeves the Poltergeist, the mischievous troublemaker of the books at Hogwarts, added humor and chaos with those constant pranks to befall both students and faculty alike. He was missing from the films, but his character alone has the potential to bring a different charm and personality to Hogwarts. Here’s to all fans geared up to see Peeves finally come alive in this reboot.

2. The Marauders’ Backstory

The story of James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew as Marauders was only hinted at in the movie, leaving a huge chunk of the characters’ common past untouched. A remake could delve into their school years, friendship, and treachery to give people a better understanding of the unbreakable bond that glued Harry’s parents and mentors together.

3. S.P.E.W. And Hermione’s Activism

This includes Hermione founding the Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare or S.P.E.W. This subplot has been cut from the films, yet it is an important aspect that shows her compassion and commitment to justice. The inclusion of this in the reboot will give depth to her character and show her growth beyond academics.

4. Hogwarts Classes And Daily Life

The majority of life at Hogwarts is skipped over in the film series, but Hogwarts, the magical school, remains enchanted and mystical. Through books, this kind of lavish view is given through classes, exams, and traditions at Hogwarts. Fans hope this reboot has time to complete an immersive experience of Hogwarts.

5. Harry’s Full Relationship With Cho Chang

On screen, Harry and Cho Chang’s relationship is highly complicated and emotional because of grief and teenage awkwardness. Movies could hardly express the depth of feelings since many parts of their struggle have been missed. In a remake, Dobby could have played an enhanced role to provide an accurate view of love and loss in youth.

6. Dobby’s Growing Importance

In the movie, Dobby, the house-elf, plays a very different role. He proved to be there at the right time to help Harry, not just once, but twice in crucial incidents, and he developed as a loyal friend. Fans hope that this reboot will do justice to Dobby by showing all his bravery and quirks in full detail.

7. The Voldemort Family History

The making of Voldemort and the history of his family, especially the Gaunts, play an important role in knowing why he did everything and what kind of dark journey he was on. The movies simply show a hint of that back story; a remake can dig deeper into his messy lineage and portray the tragic and twisted forces that made him.Related: ‘Harry Potter’: What Happens To Voldemort And Bellatrix Lestrange’s Daughter, Delphini?

8. Percy Weasley’s Conflict With His Family

There are very few scenes of Percy’s storyline in the films where he cuts himself off from his family because of his loyalty to the Ministry. The subplot brings tension within the Weasley family and marks Percy’s eventual redemption journey which fans are waiting eagerly to see in full.9. Fred And George’s Grand Farewell

An iconic scene in the books is Fred and George’s legendary exit from Hogwarts, complete with fireworks and rebellion against Umbridge. Though the movies depict a version of this, fans would love to see the full spectacle in the reboot, capturing the humor and defiance that define the twins.

10. Albus Dumbledore’s Troubled Past

The films almost completely erase the mysterious past of Dumbledore and his complex relationship with Grindelwald, and that tragic event involving his sister Ariana. The reboot could peel some of the layers for the fans who can glimpse these vulnerabilities in Dumbledore’s personality and understand why he would make such drastic decisions.
