Marvel Cinematic Universe has lost its credibility, along with a bulletproof box office collection. ‘The Marvels‘, MCU’s latest release stars Brie Larson in the lead, along with Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Iman Vellani in the role of Ms. Marvel. It has turned out to be a major failure.
‘The Marvels’ is setting up an unfortunate record that the MCU and Walt Disney Company could never have imagined. Disney lost a phenomenal amount of money over this particular release. Seems like Phase Five of Marvel has been a bearer of bad luck.

According to Deadline, it suffers the worst MCU second-week drop plummeting a staggering 78.1%. According to the reports Disney has lost over $300 million on this film, making it the worst MCU as well as Disney box office collapse ever.
Per Deadline, ‘The Marvels’ box office is continuing its trend of breaking negative MCU records in the third week. Road Ahead For Marvel Cinematic Universe
The film’s cast was largely unavailable to promote the movie, as well as its release coincided with the end of the 2023 actors strike. Seeing that it also met with huge competition from other films like ‘Napoleon’ and ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’, box office damage is understandable. Also, the addition of recent characters makes it difficult to grab the attention of the new audience and retain the existing one.
However, Phase Five’s awaited movie ‘Deadpool Three’ marking the official entry of X-Men into Marvel might stabilize its reputation as well as its financial status. Also, the line-up of Phase Five is interesting and might serve as a redemption for Marvel’s previous losses.
