The ‘Harry Potter‘ novels were successfully adapted into an eight-part movie franchise. Watching the wizarding world come alive from the books was truly magical and splendid. Though the movies were not always too loyal to the original story, they did do a really good job of breathing life into Hogwarts.

1. Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone
This is the first movie of the ‘Harry Potter‘ franchise. It introduces us to the protagonist, Harry, and his life among the muggles. Along with the trio, it also welcomed us into the Great Hall of Hogwarts. Initially, the movie focuses on the friendship of the trio and introduces us to Hogwarts professor and headmaster, Albus Dumbledore.
The trio tries to get under the three-headed dog, gets stuck in the twisting weeds, finds the key to the trapdoor, and plays live chess in order to acquire the sorcerer’s stone. It is in this movie, Harry faces Lord Voldemort (not in his real state) for the first time. J.K. Rowling emphasizes the importance of teamwork over individual accomplishment.
2. Harry Potter And The Chamber of Secrets
The second movie of the franchise brews up new problems – students and ghosts petrified. This movie introduces us to Lord Voldemort’s tragic past – the heir of the Slytherin House. Harry’s ability to speak Parseltongue comes to use while reopening the Chamber of Secrets.
Dobby, the house help warns Potter of the danger unleashed at Hogwarts, and to protect Potter, he creates obstacles for him to reach Hogwarts. But our wondrous boy gets his hand on the first Horcrux of Lord Voldemort and reveals the real name of Lord Voldemort: Tom Mavolo Riddle.
3. Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban
Well, the prisoner of Azkaban turned out to be Harry’s godfather: Sirius Black. This movie introduces us to Dementors, sent by the Ministry to look for Sirius Black and Profesor Remus Lupin- the new professor of Defense of Dark Arts. Harry and Hermoine escape to their new adventure using the time-turner.
The movie also introduces a new ally of Lord Voldemort, who betrayed James and Lily Potter. The ally turns himself into Scabbers – Ron’s pet rat. The movie reveals a few more details about Lily and James Potter and their relationship with Sirius Black.
4. Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire
Not only Hogwarts but there are two other schools of Witchcraft and Wizardry: The Dumstrings and The Beauxbatons. All three schools participate in the Triwizard Competition. Potter’s entry into the competition was a trap set by Voldemort. The tri-wizard competition is magical and enduring to watch.
Finally, Lord Voldemort appears in full flesh, revealing why Potter was forced into the competition. Ruthless Lord Voldemort kills a beloved student of Hufflepuff whose body is taken by Potter back to the grounds of Hogwarts after impaling Lord Voldemort.

5. Harry Potter And The Order Of Pheonix
In the fifth year in Hogwarts, the trio faces a new problem, villains, and spells. Harry was expelled from Hogwarts for using magic in front of a Muggle. The Order of the Phoenix comes and collects Harry while Alastor Moody reveals that Dumbledore ordered his expulsion order suspended in favor of a disciplinary hearing. The Order flies him to 12 Grimmauld Place to stay, where Hermione and Ron along with their family.
The ministry sends sadistic Dolores Umbridge, one of the series’ most detestable villains, to Hogwarts to make sure everyone is keeping their heads down and not spreading any fake news. The trio creates ‘Dumbledore’s Army’, who train in secret for the upcoming war.
6. Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince
Lord Voldemort is back, stronger than ever. We have been introduced to almost all the Death Eater: Voldemort’s army. The most neurotic of all Bellatrix Lestrange. Potter suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent on preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching.
Potter and Dumbledore work together to find the key to unlock Voldemort’s defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore aids his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information. He reveals the Horcrux created by Lord Voldemort.
7. Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 1
The seventh book of Harry Potter has been adapted into a two-part movie. The trio finds a Horcrux, but cannot destroy it. It is so powerful that it prevents them from working together and infilters anyone who wears it with negative thoughts. As they search for clues, they uncover an almost forgotten tale – the legend of the Deathly Hallows. And if the legend is true, when Voldemort gains the ultimate power.
Meanwhile, the wizarding world has become a dangerous place for all enemies of the Dark Lord. The long-feared war has begun and Voldemort’s Death Eater seize control of the Ministry of Magic and even Hogwarts, terrorizing and arresting anyone who might oppose them.
8. Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2
Finally, the reign of Lord Voldemorts comes to an end in the final year of Hogwarts. And we come to know the actual truth about Snape, which makes us feel sorry for him. Lord Voldemort steals the Elder Wand from Albus Dumbledore’s tomb and shoots a large bolt of lightning into the sky. But he truly does not master the wand.
The trio finally destroys all of Voldemort Horcrux, making him weak and powerless. Everyone gets a chance to shine, from Harry, Ron, and Hermione down to fan-favorite supporting characters like Neville Longbottom and Molly Weasley. Everyone fights tooth and nail in this war, protecting their loved ones and the school grounds. The movie fast forwards to nineteen years later, where we see Harry and Ginny’s son -Albus Severus Potter accompanied by Ron and Hermoine’s daughter Rose Weasly on station 9 3/4 starting their journey at Hogwarts.
