Anne Hathaway’s next big project is a musical. The Oscar-winning actress is collaborating with indie film powerhouse A24 for a movie called ‘Mother Mary.’ The last musical she starred in was the 2012 film ‘Les Misérables,‘ which won her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
Amidst the ongoing WGA and SAG strike, several movies have halted their production. However, ‘Mother Mary’ is one of the few movie projects not affected by the strike. In addition to Anne Hathaway, the film stars the Emmy-winning actor-writer Michaela Cole. This project indeed has written Academy Award potential all over it!

‘Mother Mary’ Plot And Other Details
According to Deadline, ‘Mother Mary’ is a “pop melodrama” chronicling the life and times of a fictional pop star. The film will also follow her romantic relationship with an iconic fashion designer. Beyond the general premise, we don’t know if particular musicians’ or celebrities’ lives serve as the movie’s inspiration.
While many television and film projects remain on hold, ‘Mother Mary’ is currently filming. The reason is that A24, the studio behind the film, has agreed to all the demands put forward by SAG-AFTRA only if large movie studios had such a shred of dignity in them!
