When it comes to having a range in acting, Jenna Ortega does not disappoint. The actress known for her role as Wednesday Addams is now portraying the role of Cairo Sweet, an 18-year-old girl having a complicated relationship with her much older, and married teacher in ‘Miller’s Girl‘.
The film, however, didn’t really open to a very supportive audience. Viewers pointed out certain parts of the film they found to be abysmal, one of the common factors of the dislike came due to the intimate scenes between Ortega and her co-star Martin Freeman. To clear the air, the film’s intimacy coordinator stepped in to defend the intimate scenes following the backlash the film has been facing.

‘Miller’s Girl‘ revolves around an eighteen-year-old attempting to seduce and then later destroying the life of her teacher Jonathon Miller. The film is filled with sexual tension, complicated urges and the need to write a perfect essay to get into Yale University.
Though the idea of the film was enticing and had the potential to do something way better, it didn’t really hit the spot or sit well with the audience. Many called out the film for its sexual scenes and Ortega got a lot of backlash for it.
Female romance content is just sexual assault ('the dashing man forced his lips on mine' eg. 50 shades of grey, mills and boon) and pedophilia ('i want to fuck my teacher eg. Miller's Girl, and then in real life female teachers fucking their students) themes https://t.co/3kdYvCFkSw

Some viewers also bashed the themes of the age gap, which was exaggerated as pedophilia.
After a lot of hate comments and slamming of the film, the film’s intimacy coordinator came forward to defend it and talk about how Ortega was made ready for the scenes.

Intimacy Coordinator Defends ‘Miller’s Girl‘
The film’s intimacy coordinator Kristina Arjona spoke about the measures that were taken to ensure Jenna Ortega’s comfort during the sexual scenes that have been getting a lot of backlash.
“There was many, many people throughout the process, engaging with [Jenna] to make sure that it was consistent with what she was comfortable with, and she was very determined and very sure of what she wanted to do,” she told The Daily Mail.
She then added, “Part of my job too is supporting her decisions. I adapt to whatever is the comfort level of my actors, especially on a production like this where there is a large age gap between the actors.”
“For this film, in particular, because of the sensitivity of the content, they had some different variations of how they wanted to shoot these scenes so that audiences could watch them at test screenings to see what was too much,” Arojna concluded.
