‘Star Wars’ Art Pieces Sold For Millions Of Dollars
During the Heritage’s July Entertainment Auction on Friday, ‘Star Wars‘ fans got a pleasant opportunity to buy some of the most integral pieces of the franchise. One among the many things sold was the Y-wing starfighter used by the Gold Leader, which helped Luke Skywalker in destroying the death star in 1977’s ‘Star Wars: New Hope‘. It was sold for a whopping $1.55 million.
Another major highlight of the auction was Princess Leia’s golden bikini from Jabba the Hutt’s scenes in 1983’s ‘Return of the Jedi‘, which was sold for $175000. The whole ensemble included seven pieces from Industrial Lights, Magic chief sculptor and Richard Miller’s collection including the bikini brassiere, bikini plates, hip rings, armlet, and bracelet.
Actress Carrie Fisher, who wore the bikini in the film, opened up about how uncomfortable it was during a 2016 interview while promoting ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’. “They asked me if I wanted my stunt double to kill him, but I wanted to. I sawed his neck off with that chain. I really wanted to kill him(George Lucas),” the actress stated.

Other items, including the artwork poster of the movie ‘Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home’ by Bob Pea was auctioned for $106,205. Moreover, a poster from John Alvin’s concept of ‘Blade Runner’ was sold for $100,000.
