Set to have its official release in the theatres in September for the British and Irish audience, ‘Starve Acre’ has been in the talks due to its gory and unsettling themes. Having seen how actors are often affected by their roles in horror films, fans were quite concerned about how Actress Morfydd Clark would be coping with this.

While speaking to Film Updates, Clark opened up how her co-star and one of the lead actors in the film, Matt Smith, helped keep her grounded. “It was just lovely working with Matt. I’m very much not for suffering like your character does. I’m a wimp! That’s why I’m an actress! And so I really need to feel safe and happy when I’m not in those characters’ heads, and Matt is just so much fun. He’s very generous and very kind,” she said.

As she continued gushing about Smith, whom she met in 2022 right before the first season of ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’, she said, “I met him just before season one of The Rings of Power came out, which I was absolutely terrified about. He was like, ‘You’ll be fine! You’ll be fine! It’s quite fun, actually. You’ll enjoy Comic-Con!’ I feel very lucky to have felt so safe and happy with him, and I definitely know that that made my performance better.”

In the movie, Smith and Clark portray a couple in the countryside trying to deal with their son suddenly acting out of character as tragic events gradually unfold.

Known widely for being a deeply versatile and talented actress, Morfydd Clark has worked in several other horror films before ‘Starve Acre‘. Clark is often seen receiving praise from captivated critics due to her outstanding performances in all her projects.

Clark first stepped foot in the world of horror with ‘Saint Maud’, a psychological thriller released in 2019, playing Maud in the film as a highly religious hospital nurse. Maud then attempts to save the “soul” of a terminally ill patient which further expresses the complexity, severity, madness, and obsessiveness of her personality.

The movie is often described to be an extremely creative and jarring take on faith, extremist actions, and gripping instincts. ‘Saint Maud’ also won Clark many recognitions across the globe due to her unique ability to embody the psychological depth and emotional vulnerability of her characters.

She has also played a part in Horror/Action ‘Crawl’, horror series ‘Dracula’ and mystery series ‘Murder Is Easy’ among many other projects.
