Historically speaking, video games don’t make good movies. The movie adaptations run the risk of being tonally messy. The visual resonance and characterization are lost, making for a cheap imitation. But the ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ movie is ready to take the challenge.
The involvement of Nintendo Studios should assure the fans the authenticity of the original game is still intact. The film did receive some blowback regarding the casting choices. However, the naysayers will be proven wrong with Chris Pratt leading a stellar cast for voice roles.
