‘Toy Story 5’ Plotline Will Address A Rising Gen Alpha Problem

Disney Pixar is looking to up its game after several failed animated movies with another ‘Toy Story’ movie. This franchise is one of Pixar’s most successful ones and the fifth film is said to be released in 2026.

After facing several problems throughout the four films, the toy gang is going to face a very important challenge in recent times. And that is none other than the rising trend of children and teenagers getting sucked into the world of electronics. The ‘Toy Story 5’ plot is going to revolve around this.

The fifth movie in the ‘Toy Story’ franchise is scheduled to be released on 19 June 2026. At D23 Expo 2024, the storyline for the fifth movie was teased. During Disney’s Friday night presentation, it was revealed that Woody, Buzz, and the gang will be returning in a new story in 2026.

Interestingly, this time, the gang has an ominous enemy to fight. Writer cum director Andrew Stanton, who has been a co-creator of the franchise since its beginning, says ‘Toy Story 5‘ will be about “toys going against electronics.” They also revealed a picture depicting a kid using a tablet under her bed covers.

It is not just Andrew Stanton who will be returning as writer and director for the fifth movie but it seems the original voice cast might also make a comeback. Tim Allen, who voices Buzz Lightyear said in his appearance on ‘The Tonight Show’ that he was contacted by Disney to return.

Both Allen and Tom Hanks have been contacted to return to voice their characters in the fifth movie. However, Allen had expressed concerns over making a sequel.

He wondered, “if four was too many. Is five going to be too much?” But Allen later added that the “writer that’s doing it wrote one of the better ones and said, ‘If I didn’t get this right, I wouldn’t do it.’ It could be a very, very interesting way to reunite it.” So it remains to be seen if fans will get a Tom Hanks-Tim Allen reunion for the fifth movie.
