“What An Incredible Performer”: Issa Rae Is In Awe Of Margot Robbie And Left Speechless After ‘Barbie’ Screening

The sultry summer will get heated in July with some of the best cinematic experiences for the audience! While Tom Cruise revived the box office with ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’ he is coming back with ‘Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning.’ But Greta Gerwig and Christopher Nolan will be clashing on the same day with ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer,’ respectively. The Margot Robbie-starrer will combine amazing star power with spectacular storytelling.

‘Barbie’ is the story of the titular character and Ken in their magical world, where she is flying, wearing heels, and living her life carefree. But when the existential crisis hits her favorite pop-culture figure, she goes on an adventure with Ken to live in the real world. It would be interesting to see how Greta Gerwig has translated the nostalgia into a gritty screenplay. While the audience awaits the release of the film, one of the actors, Issa Rae, has given a positive reaction to Margot’s performance and the film.

Greta Gerwig has assembled a dreamy cast for the summer release of the year, ‘Barbie.’ Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are leading the stellar cast of the film. It also includes actors like Simu Liu, Ncuti Gatwa, Dua Lipa, and Issa Rae.

Issa is playing Barbie’s President in the film. Recently, she had success at her fingertips with ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.’ During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she revealed that she has watched ‘Barbie,’ calling it brilliant.

During the interview, Issa Rae said, “Yeah, I got to see it at [Margot Robbie and Tom Ackerley’s] house in their little theater. It kinda left me speechless. It’s so well done and true to the script, which I thought was brilliant.”

Issa continued appreciating her co-star in the film, Margot Robbie, and how the whole film panned out. She said, “It was amazing to see what Greta was able to accomplish visually, what an incredible performer Margot is, and to relive how the dance numbers played out, which I didn’t get to see up close. It was just a really, really satisfying watch and so fun. I was literally laughing out loud by myself in a dark room.”

Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie are the producer/actor-director duo we needed to revive the mainstream magic. While they are collaborating for the first time as actor and director, Margot almost passed the chance to Gal Gadot. In an interview with ‘Vogue,’ Margot said that the ‘Wonder Woman’ actress was the first choice for ‘Barbie.’

Margot Robbie said, “Gal Gadot is Barbie energy. Gal Gadot is so impossibly beautiful, but you don’t hate her for being that beautiful because she’s so genuinely sincere, and she’s so enthusiastically kind, that it’s almost dorky. It’s like right before being a dork.”
