What Happened To Lucius In Real Life?
The filmmakers are showing Lucius as a young man in the sequel. But in reality, Lucius Verus II, the inspiration behind the character died at a very young age. His death occurred even before Commodus became emperor.
An interesting fact that is skipped in the film is that Lucius’ father ruled as co-emperor alongside Marcus Aurelius. So Lucius would have been the perfect contender for the throne with his powerful bloodline. However, Lucilla’s child died at a very young age for unknown reasons.
