What Is ‘Find Me’ About?
The sequel of ‘Call Me By Your Name’ titled ‘Find Me’ was released on October 29, 2019 by Aciman. In an interview, he talked about why he decided on writing a sequel. He claimed that ‘Find Me‘ would not be an ‘obvious sequel’ clarifying that it would focus on the secondary character rather than the lead in the first novel.
In ‘Find Me‘, Aciman revisits the lives of Elio Perlman and Oliver years after their initial romance. The novel is split into four sections: Tempo, Cadenza, Capriccio, and Da Capo.
Each of the sections focuses on a different character.
The first part focuses on Elio’s father Sam Perlman and his relationship with Miranda whom Sami met while on a train to Rome to visit Elio. The second part focuses on events 15 years after ‘Call Me By Your Name’. It shows Elio working as a piano teacher in Paris and his romantic relationship with an older man, Michel. The third part revolves around Oliver’s future. Despite 20 years passing and having a wife and children Oliver still thought about his relationship with Elio. Elio’s Father Sami has died by this time. However, he had a child with Miranda whom he met on the train in the first part, and named him Oliver. Lastly, the final part showcased Elio and Oliver together again after over two decades of raising Sami’s child and Elio’s half-brother Little Ollie.
