Pitt was associated with the project since the beginning. He was a producer of ‘The Departed’ after Warner Bros. brought the remake rights to Internal Affairs. Pitt previously worked in crime films and so he was a perfect choice for this one too. When Martin Scorsese joined as a director, it was revealed that Pitt would appear in the film along with Leonardo DiCaprio.
But Pitt left ‘The Departed’ for unknown reasons. He then disclosed while speaking to Interview Magazine that he decided to step down because of age-related issues. Pitt said that he would prefer younger guys to get a chance and added: “Guys coming out of the academy, guys who were hungry. I thought I was too old for it.”

All About ‘The Departed’
Released on October 6, 2006, ‘The Departed’ was a remake of the 2002 action thriller film, ‘Internal Affairs‘. The film received positive reviews and collected $291 million at the box office.
The film was a recipient of several accolades at the Academy Awards, Golden Globe Awards, and BAFTA Awards. Apart from Leonardo DiCaprio, the rest of the roles were played by Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Mark Wahlberg, Martin Sheen, Ray Winstone, Vera Farmiga, and Alec Baldwin.
The important characters of the film died towards the end of the film. Although a script was developed for a sequel, it was canceled due to a lack of interest.
