“You Can Do Anything You Want”: Lady Gaga Channels The Iconic Harley Quinn In Audio Preview Of ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’

Lady Gaga has introduced her own twist to the iconic character of Harley Quinn that she is set to play in the upcoming Joker sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux’. Just a week ahead of the trailer’s debut on April 9, Lady Gaga has shared her take on the DC Comics villainess that she is playing.

With fans all over the world excited to see their favorite songstress take on the role of the iconic antagonist, Lada Gaga released an audio preview on the movie’s official TikTok account. The singer took on her Harley Quinn voice as she seductively urged Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker to embrace his desires.

You can do anything you want,” she purrs with an unmistakable manipulative charm of the character. “You’re Joker.”

While the many portrayals of Harley Quinn till date have often had a distinct Brooklyn accent, Gaga’s rendition appears to have a neutral tone. This has also taken fans a little aback, sparking further speculation as to why the decision to depart from the usual accent may have been taken.

Margot Robbie, who has played Harley Quinn before Lady Gaga in the DC Extended Universe, also said she is excited for Gaga’s interpretation of the iconic Harley Quinn. Speaking to Variety during the Golden Globes Awards, Robbie praised Gaga’s talent and eagerly anticipated seeing her take on the role.

“Oh my God, she’s going to crush it. Are you kidding? She’s going to be amazing, I can’t wait to see it,” she said. “I actually haven’t spoken to her about it. I almost don’t want to know so I can save it for the surprise when I get to see the movie.”

Rumored to be a fantastical musical with covers of popular songs, ‘Joker: Folie à Deux‘ picks up after the events of its predecessor film. The movie will largely explore Joker’s evolving relationship with psychiatrist Dr. Harleen Quinzel, portrayed by Gaga, within the confines of Arkham Asylum.

Gaga’s involvement in the project was announced in 2022, and production concluded in early 2023. Set photos teased Gaga’s vibrant Harley Quinn costume, with fans highly excited to see her portrayal of the iconic villainess on screen.

With a star-studded cast and the success of its predecessor behind it, ‘Joker: Folie à Deux‘ is set to release on October 4.
