Zendaya Is Excited About ‘Dune 3’, But One Reason Is Holding Her Back From Reprising Her Role

Directed by Denis Villeneuve, ‘Dune‘ is an epic science fiction film that is the adaptation of the 1965 novel written by Frank Herbert. Released in 2021, the first part of the franchise grossed more than $402 million at the worldwide box office. The film also won six Oscars, including Best Achievement in Film Editing and Best Original Score.

After the success of ‘Dune’, the second part of the franchise is set to hit the big screen on March 1, 2024. During an interview with the cast, Zendaya dropped the hint about returning for the role in the third part as well.

During a recent cast interview with Fandango, Zendaya seemed positive about reprising her role of Chani in a potential ‘Dune Messiah‘ film. When asked about the potential treequel, the ‘Euphoria’ actress said, “Would we be down? I mean of course. Any time Denis calls it’s a yes from me. I’m excited to see what happens. I started Messiah and I was like, Woah, I’m only shooting the first movie. Let me just go back to the first one. It’s so much to take in, but there’s no better hands with better care and love for it than Denis.”

Zendaya further added, “I’m just excited to see … It’s just anticipation. Whenever he is ready. He’s a perfectionist in many ways and doesn’t want to share things until they’re ready. So I’m respecting that and waiting until he’s ready.”

During a ‘Dune: Part Two’ press conference in South Korea last year Denis Villeneuve went on record saying the upcoming Part Two is a much better movie than his 2021 original. While a third film hasn’t been confirmed, Villeneuve told Empire magazine last year that he is “very interested in creating a third movie based on Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah, the second book in his Dune series.”

The director said, “If I succeed in making a trilogy, that would be the dream. I will say, there are words on paper for a third film.”

‘Dune: Part Two’ also stars Timothée Chalamet, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Josh Brolin, and Rebecca Ferguson.
