‘Dune: Part Two’ Pushed To 2024 Amidst Ongoing SAG-AFTRA Strikes

Movie lovers are patiently waiting for the second part of the Timothée Chalamet starrer ‘Dune‘. However, to the disappointment of ‘Dune’ fans, the release of Denis Villeneuve’s film has been pushed to next year. This change in the dates of the movie is because of the ongoing actors and writer’s strike in Hollywood.

The first part of Dune hit the theatres back in 2021. The movies are based on the 1965 novel of the same name by Frank Herbert. With a star-packed cast, the second part of the movie was one that had been highly anticipated. But the lovers of this sci-fi will have to wait a bit longer for the movie to hit the theaters.

The highly anticipated movie ‘Dune: Part Two was expected to hit the theatres on November 3, 2023. But the SAG-AFTRA strike will now delay the release of the movie. Thus the new release date for the Zendaya-starrer movie is March 2024. With the ongoing labor dispute, the actors are unable to promote the movie. This is what has caused the change in the dates.

Even though Warner Bros. pushed the dates of ‘Dune’, it hasn’t changed the dates of other upcoming movie releases. Along with Legendary, Warner Bros. came to the conclusion that the star-studded movie will need full-throttle publicity worldwide so that the movie hits its full potential at the box office. With the dates changed the production houses are expecting to begin the marketing of the movie by September 2023.

In 2021, ‘Dune: Part One had grossed over $402 million at the worldwide box office. And the sequel is expected to have more caliber than the first film. “Part One is more of a contemplative movie. Part Two is an action-packed, epic war movie. It is much more dense. We went to all-new locations. I didn’t want a feeling of repetition. It’s all new sets. Everything is new,” Denis Villeneuve said in April this year at the CinemaCon.

The second trailer for the sequel was released in June 2023. The scenes, dialogues, and background score of the trailer alone can surely excite anyone who loved the first part. Along with Zendaya and Timothee Chalamet, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken, and Léa Seydoux are also part of the upcoming movie. Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgard, and Dave Bautista are among the returning cast members.
