A new rumor claims Marvel may be preparing to take Peter Parker’s love life in a completely different direction after ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’. The studio seems to be mulling over adding either Gwen Stacy or Black Cat as Peter’s next big romantic lead for ‘Spider-Man 5’, according to the leak.
Peter Parker and MJ May Finally Be Over
In ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, MJ makes her feelings for Peter all too apparent after reading his letter. She knows how Peter feels about her, but she says that she still doesn’t love him or feel anything for him romantically.

That moment could represent a much more definitive ending for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker and Zendaya’s MJ than fans might have expected. They have been one of the emotional pillars of Holland’s Spider-Man story.
Peter and MJ have already had a rather tumultuous relationship, from their awkward first date to their eventual romance and the devastating memory wipe at the end of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’. If ‘Brand New Day‘ did end that story, then Marvel might have a chance to delve into another facet of Peter’s life.
Gwen Stacy or Black Cat?
That’s where the latest rumor comes in handy. Marvel is reportedly interested in casting Gwen Stacy or Felicia Hardy, aka Black Cat, as Peter’s next love interest in ‘Spider-Man 5’. Gwen would obviously have a lot of emotional significance due to her importance in the comic books.

However, Black Cat could offer something completely different. Felicia’s flirtatious nature, her morals, and the chemistry she has with Spider-Man could make for a very different dynamic for Holland’s Peter. It’s also a breath of fresh air that Peter can go forward instead of trying to make up with MJ again in the next movie.
Sometimes, it’s necessary for a character to move on in order to grow. However, Gwen Stacy and Black Cat are not confirmed for Spider-Man 5, and Peter’s love life is still a mystery. Still, if MJ’s words in ‘Brand New Day’ are truly meant to close that chapter, Peter Parker may finally be ready for a brand-new love story.
