Since November last year, Adele has been performing her Weekends With Adele concert residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. As the concert residency nears its end, the singer has announced that she would be taking a break from music.
The singer revealed that despite her initial intention to use the Munich residency as her final round of shows before taking a break, her plans changed when she decided to reschedule her cancelled Las Vegas shows for later in the year. Here’s everything she has revealed about her retirement.
Adele Talks About Retiring From Music
Adele talked about her plans to retire from music during her show in Germany as thousands of fans shared emotional devastation at her decision. Speaking to fans while on stage, Adele said, “I just need a rest and I’ve spent—I’ve spent the last seven years building a new life for myself, and I want to live it now,”
She then added, “I want to live my new life that I’ve been building and I’ll miss you terribly. I have 10 shows to do, but after that, I will not see you for an incredibly long time, and I will hold you dear in my heart for the whole next of my break. And I will fantasize about these shows and any shows that I’ve done over the last three years. And I’ll really, really hold them in the bottom of my heart forever. It’s been amazing.”

Adele previously let her fans down when she rescheduled the tour that was supposed to be in 2021 for November 2022. The singer gave an explanation for this through a video that she posted on the internet, saying that it wasn’t up to her standards and that she and her crew weren’t prepared.
She eventually extended her concerts until 2023 and most of 2024 after the shows started. Her last shows are slated for October 25, 2024, to November 23, 2024.
What Has Adele Said About Retirement Previously?
This isn’t the first time the Grammy winning artist has talked about retiring. Adele has previously spoken up about how her ‘tank’ feels empty and she wants a break soon.
Speaking to Germany’s ZDF she opened up about how she wants to explore more creative ideas, as she said, “I don’t have any plans for new music at all. I want a big break after this and I think I want to do other creative things, just for a little while. You know, I don’t even sing at home at all. How strange is that?”
She also added, “I miss everything about before I was famous, I think probably being anonymous the most. I don’t like being famous. I love that I get to make music all the time whenever I want and people are receptive to it and like it, because that’s pretty unimaginable… that never happens to people.”
Well, as disheartening as it might seem for her fans, Adele does need a break and she’s rightfully taking it.
