Ariana Grande Makes A Powerful Statement With ‘Yes, And?’
Ariana Grande is not one to let the critics dissect her love life and she makes that abundantly clear in the music video for her latest single ‘Yes, and?’. Through her art, the 30-year-old pop sensation is taking a light yet powerful stance against media criticism of her relationships and romantic life.
In the video of the song, a group of journalists, critics, and dubious fans are gathered in an abandoned warehouse. They have been seemingly summoned for a special event celebrating Grande’s upcoming album, dubbed as ‘AG7′.
“You know, I think I liked her better when her ponytail was a few centimeters higher,” one follower says, while another adds, “I miss the old Ari. You know, the singer!”
Stone statues of Grande and her backup dancers then come to life, beckoning the skeptics into a world where they must accept the pop star on her own terms. The visual further continues as the critics undress under Grande’s command.

“What’s Mine Is Mine”: Grande Slams Her Critics Through Her Music
In a diva-sized decree, Grande responds to their biting commentary with confidence: “My tongue is sacred, I speak upon what I like. Protective, sexy, and discerning with my time. Your energy is yours, and mine is mine. What’s mine is mine. My face is sitting, I don’t need no disguise. Don’t comment on my body, do not reply. Your business is yours, and mine is mine. Why do you care so much whose… I ride?”
The people in the room have by now been converted into Arianators. They all leave the room, and Grande and her crew turn back to stone, A new group of skeptics then enters for their own indoctrination into the performer’s new era.
‘Yes, and?’ is the lead single for AG7, Grande’s seventh studio album and first solo singe in the past three years. Teasing its release on social media, Grande had said she is tired while also expressing gratitude when the album was nearing completion.
