Music legend Elton John‘s long-awaited album is now getting delayed as the musician revealed to the public that he’s undergoing treatment for a serious eye infection that has left him partially blind.
The singer revealed that his right eye is not functioning, and his sight in his left eye isn’t the greatest either. Here’s everything he revealed for fans and as an update on his next album.
Elton John Opens Up About His Eye Infection
Over the past few years, Elton John has struggled with a number of health problems. However, the unstoppable legend stated in an interview with Good Morning America on Monday that an eye infection he had this summer had resulted in the loss of vision in his right eye, which is affecting his creative output.
The singer revealed that it has been quite some time since he has worked on music, adding, “I unfortunately lost my eye sight in my right eye in July because I had an infection in the South of France. It’s been four months now since I haven’t been able to see. And my left eye is not the greatest.”
He continued, “There’s hope and encouragement that it will be okay. But I’m kind of stuck in the moment, because I can do something like this, but going into the studio and recording… I don’t know. Because I can’t see a lyric, for starters.”
Elton John’s Past Health Struggles
John Elton has previously been candid about his numerous health issues, which include prostate cancer, knee and hip replacement surgery, hearing loss, and the placement of a pacemaker to address an erratic heartbeat.
Recalling his several surgeries, he recently told Rolling Stone, “I don’t have tonsils, adenoids, or an appendix. I don’t have a prostate. I don’t have a right hip, a left knee, or a right knee. In fact, the only thing left to me is my left hip.”
Currently he’s all set to release his documentary ‘Never Too Late’ directed by R.J. Cutler and John’s husband, David Furnish. It will be available for streaming from December 13 on Disney+.
