“He Was Telling The Truth”: Kanye West’s Ex Amber Rose Defends The Rapper After The Taylor Swift 2009 VMAs Controversy

Kanye West chose to go into the abyss of hate that has dethroned him as a respected fashion mogul and hip-hop producer. After his erratic behavior in 2022, the rapper was ousted from the industry, with big brands severing ties with him. However, Ye has a long history of stirring controversy, and his most infamous was the 2009 VMAs when he interrupted Taylor Swift’s speech.

The 2009 VMAs will be forever remembered by pop culture connoisseurs, but they will haunt both Taylor Swift and Beyoncé. During the award ceremony, Taylor won the ‘Best Female Video’ award for ‘You Belong With Me’. When she came to give her acceptance speech, West interrupted her speech by announcing that Beyoncé had the best music video of all time. He received a lot of flak for his behavior. Now, 14 years later, his ex-girlfriend, Amber Rose, came forward to defend the rapper.

Kanye West had never been able to recuperate from the hate that he received for interrupting Taylor Swift’s VMAs speech in 2009 to give flowers to Beyoncé, saying the infamous line, “Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time.”

After 14 years of that incident, with Taylor Swift and Beyoncé ruling the music industry and Ye struggling to release his music, his girlfriend, Amber Rose, gave her response to the ancient event.

During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Amber Rose said that she thinks Kanye West was telling the truth and that Beyoncé should have won the ‘Best Female Video’ award. Amber said, “I don’t want to say the wrong thing because I love Taylor Swift, she’s amazing.”

Rose continued, “Was he wrong for going on stage? Absolutely. Was he telling the truth? He was telling the truth — Beyoncé deserved that award but you can’t take it from somebody else. It wasn’t Taylor Swift’s fault.”

Kanye West went under the radar after his anti-Semitic rant on Alex Jones’ show ‘Infowars’. However, the reports were swirling for a long time that Ye would be releasing a new joint album with TY Dolla $ign, with whom Kanye collaborated on songs like ‘Ego Death’. Recently, the rapper duo released their first song, ‘Vultures’ with Lil Durk and Bump J.

‘Vultures’ was first released on the WPWX Power 92 Chicago radio station, with a small teaser released online. In the song, Ye has included an inflammatory verse that goes, “How I’m anti-Semitic, I just f***ed  Jewish b***h.” This has irked many organizations fighting against anti-Semitism.

The Anti-Defamation League released a statement via TMZ. In the statement, they said, “At a time of rising anti-Semitism worldwide, it’s disgusting to see Kanye once again use his platform to spew Jew hatred.” The organization called him “an unrepentant antisemite and clearly a misogynist.”
