How And Where To Watch AMAs 2022?

The stage is set at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles for the music’s biggest night, American Music Awards (AMAs) 2023. This year the Latino male artist Bad Bunny is leading the nominations pack with eight nominations. Other artists who are contending at the forefront this year are Drake, Adele, Harry Styles, The Weeknd, and Beyoncé. This year Lionel Richie will receive the most coveted trophy of the night i.e., the Icon Award. The origin of the awards ceremony was when the Grammy Awards stopped its telecast on the ABC network.

The Grammys shifted to Tennessee-based CBS in 1973. Since then, the network along with Dick Clark started its own awards ceremony which became the American Music Awards. From its inception till 2005, there were music industry experts, who decided the winners. But, since 2006, the music heads have had the decision-making power. From October 13th, 2022, the voting lines were open for the general public to vote for their favorite artists under various categories. The voting lines were closed on November 14th, 2022. Now, it is show time! On November 20th, 2022, the awards ceremony will take place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. At the event, for the Lionel Richie tribute, Charlie Puth, Stevie Wonder, and Ari Lennox will grace the stage. P!nk will also join the stage to pay homage to Olivia Newton-John.

Other performers will include Anitta, David Guetta, Dove Cameron, Lil Baby, and others.

One of the biggest nights for music will be telecasted on ABC network as usual. In 2021,  46.5 million tuned in to watch the ceremony. Many celebrities like Jimmy Kimmel, Gigi Hadid, Ciara, and others have hosted the show. This year Wayne Brady will take up the hosting duties at the ceremony. If you are not living in the USA and you want to stream the awards ceremony? The music heads abroad can stream the show on the Lionsgate Play. The AMAs have Lionsgate Play as their official streaming partner outside the USA. The streaming platform will stream the show live on November 21st, 2022, in India, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

The Filipinos can stream the award show with their home-based broadband services, PLDT Home broadband. The broadband services are providing vouchers to their viewers to access the ceremony that will be streamed on Lionsgate Play.

Amit Dhanuka, the Executive Vice President of the streaming platform announced the streaming of the 50th AMAs on Lionsgate Play. He said, “We are thrilled to LIVE stream the 50th show of the American Music Awards exclusively across three territories – India, Malaysia and the Philippines.”

The statement continued, “Viewers across these regions can expect a vibrant night with a powerful line-up of performances with the biggest names – from pop, rap, R&B to K-Pop and more. This will definitely be an event to remember, and we at Lionsgate Play are looking forward to streaming it LIVE for the fans.”
