The Grammy Awards event this season has given Taylor Swift yet another chance to set the internet abuzz, but not just with her victory. Her fans play a significant role in getting their beloved musician in the headlines every now and then. And they have done it yet again with their concerns about Taylor Swift’s website going down for a while during the Grammys.
Though Taylor’s announcement of her new upcoming album came as a surprise to the world, her ardent fans may have already gotten a hint about it. Swifties have brains no less efficient than Sherlock Holmes when it comes to their beloved pop sensation. Here’s what Taylor’s fans had predicted about the announcement based on her website blackout and keen observation of her social media posts and videos.
Taylor Swift’s Website And Merch Store Blackout Sets Detective Mode On For Swifties
Taylor Swift’s website saw a temporary blackout on Sunday, sparking speculation among fans that the songstress is gearing up to announce her fifth re-recorded album, ‘Reputation (Taylor’s Version)’ at the 2024 Grammy Awards. While the website is now back up, a black error screen had Swifties on the edge of their seats in the late afternoon and early evening.
Swift’s online merch store was also under a blackout as it displayed a password-protected white screen. Such a thing happening is not something that Taylor Swift’s fans would let go unnoticed. Swifties immediately got on the case, as they have a prestigious record of cracking 89 puzzles over 33 million times in less than 24 hours to unveil track titles for ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ in the past.
Swift’s fans do not trail without concrete evidence, they always have a logic to their speculation. The clues where the speculation stems from came earlier on Sunday when Swift changed all her social media profile images to a black-and-white version of her ’Midnights’ album cover. The color scheme is something similar that the pop star pulled off during her ‘Reputation’ era.

How Swift’s Song Videos And Social Media Worked As Clues For Fans’ Speculation
Swift’s fans are known for their eagle-eyed observations, and rightly so, as they found a substantial clue in Swift’s ‘Karma’ music video, where a coffee cup showed latte art shaped like a clock. The thumbnail colors, strategically placed at 8 and 2, got Swifties thinking that an announcement might be due this month.
The rumors however did not materialize as were expected, but they weren’t entirely incorrect either. Though Taylor Swift did not announce ‘Reputation (Taylor’s Version)’, she did announce 11th studio album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ is set to drop on April 19th.
During her acceptance speech, the pop sensation said, “To say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I have been keeping from you for the last two years.” She started and with that all too familiar smirk, My brand-new album comes out April 19th. It’s called The Tortured Poets Department.”
Taylor Swift won her 13th Grammy for the Best Pop Vocal Album for her 10th studio album ‘Midnights’ this year. She was nominated for six categories this year by the Grammys.
