Taylor Swift grabbed some of the biggest nominations at this year’s Grammys, and the pop star is giving full credit to her dedicated fanbase — the Swifties, for loving her album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ so much.
The album, which created headlines for being one of Swift’s best and most successful work, also consisted of some of her most personal music. Here’s how she thanked Swifties.
Taylor Swift Thanks Swifties For ‘Tortured Poets’ Success
Taylor Swift took a break during the night’s surprise song segment during her Canada-leg kickoff show in Toronto Thursday — her first performance since the Grammy nominations were revealed the week before — to consider the success of her eleventh studio album. She heartfully thanked her fans for loving and “digging” into the album so much and credited them for it’s success.
“You guys did something over the course of the last few months,” she said. “What you did with embracing Tortured Poets Department the album, it’s truly blown my mind. Because it’s truly emotional to me. This album — I wrote it during the Eras Tour. I wrote that album, made that album, all trying to keep it a secret from you guys, and then announced the album.”
“And we basically were working really hard to secretly put together a new chapter of the Eras Tour of The Tortured Poets Department, and we wanted to surprise you guys with it,” she added.
She further told her fans that they are “so wonderful about digging into this album and understanding where I was coming from with it.” “Everything that happens is a direct reflection of the passion you show, and you guys got this album nominated for six Grammys. So thank you,” the pop star quipped.
What Is ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ About?
Most fans speculated that the album will be about Taylor Swift’s relationship with Joe Alwyn, but surprisingly, it was mostly about her relationship with Matty Healey, describing their long tumultuous romance.
The second part of the album consisted songs dedicated to Kim Kardashian and Travis Kelce as well. As Swift has said multiple times, the album consists of some of her most personal work.
She’s up for multiple Grammys this year for the album.
