The pop culture debates are ongoing about the best pop star of all time. Many names have come forward, but Michael Jackson has been ubiquitous on all of the lists. The influence he created with his music pioneered a moment in the R&B and pop worlds. Though he led a controversial life, his legacy will remain untouched. After being pitted against Chris Brown, the debate was ablaze when Harry Styles came into the picture.
In a Rolling Stone cover interview, the outlet crowned Harry Styles the ‘King of Pop’. Styles and Michael Jackson shared the same trajectory. Both artists started in bands, but they went on to work on their solo careers and emerged as influential artists of the time. However, many thought that crowning the Grammy-winning artist was overstretched, including Michael’s son, Prince Jackson. He has yet again slyly taken a dig at Harry Styles for being the king of pop.
Prince Jackson Said That Michael Jackson Worked His Ass Off For The Title
It has been over a decade since one of the most complex icons of our times, Michael Jackson, passed away due to a drug overdose. But the world is still celebrating him and his professional legacy. There was a debate about whether Chris Brown was the bigger GOAT than Michael Jackson.
But Chris settled that debate, and he wanted to give a tribute to the pop icon at BET, but they scrapped his performance. However, the Rolling Stone article sparked a new debate about crowning Harry Styles the new king of pop.
Recently, Michael Jackson‘s son, Prince Jackson, appeared on Mike Tyson’s ‘Hotboxin” podcast. On the podcast, Tyson addressed the Rolling Stone 2022 cover, dubbing Styles the new king of pop. Prince did not hesitate to say that there are no contemporary artists who can be compared to the legacy that the ‘Thriller’ artist created. However, he said that Beyoncé is the only artist who comes closer to his greatness.
Prince Jackson recalled Michael Jackson’s ‘This Is It’ days, when he used to come exhausted from rehearsals and give it all. He said, “When he was getting ready during the rehearsals for This Is It, he would come home real late at night.”
Prince continued, “He’d have a shake or eat a meal and go to working on music, go to his room, start writing or harmonizing, and melodizing to try and figure out another song.”
He added, “There are people that came before my technology generation, and they had to work their whole life, their a**** off to get where they got to.”

Prince Jackson Considered Harry Styles As An Amazing Artist After The Rolling Stone Row
The October/November 2022 edition of Rolling Stone UK called Harry Styles the new King of Pop by giving the title ‘Harry Styles: How the New King of Pop Set the Music World Aflame.’
The title created a stir on social media, with Michael Jackson’s nephew, Taj Jackson, calling Styles out. After that, Prince Jackson also addressed the situation.
There is no new King of Pop. You don’t own the title @RollingStone, and you didn’t earn it, my uncle did. Decades of dedication and sacrifice. The title has been retired. No disrespect to @Harry_Styles, he’s mega talented. Give him his own unique title. https://t.co/td6SSSVkfX

Prince Jackson, on Good Morning Britain, addressed Harry Styles, earning the title of ‘King of Pop.’ He said, “Harry Styles is an incredible artist. He’s got his own genre and he’s definitely an amazing artist.”
He continued, “But the ‘King of Pop’ was a moniker that really my dad earned in a time that the access to information and the access to popularity and fame wasn’t as easily accessible as it is today.”
Prince argued, “And with so many other social factors that you have to take into consideration at that time, I do feel that my father is the King of Pop, will always be the King of Pop, and it’s not something that you can ever take away.”
He reasoned, “We’ve just evolved so much as a society that those same factors will never be the same. So when you look at…from where my father started to where he ended, versus where all these other people started to where they ended, it’s just night and day of a difference.”
