The album, which consists of twelve songs, brings in the freshest side of the pop star and some of her best work to date. As the album nears release, here’s how Carpenter described each of the songs on the album, giving fans an insight into the creative process that went on behind it.
Here’s What All The Songs On ‘Short N Sweet’ Mean
Speaking to Papermag, Sabrina Carpenter dived deep into the writing process behind a few of her songs on the album. Starting with the opener, ‘Taste‘, Carpenter revealed that she sings about her ex’s new lover tasting her every time he kisses his new girl.
Speaking of the song she said, “I’ve been known to share” and “you’ll just have to taste me when he’s kissing you.” She then addressed the bold themes of the song, saying, “I will write any song. It doesn’t mean I’ll put it out, but I’ll write it. I think the series of unfortunate events I’ve encountered in relationships are no secret to people who know me or think they know me.”
She then talked about the song ‘Bed Chem’ which is, presumably, written for Barry Keoghan. “There was a lot of steam in the studio. It was real hot and heavy. No, I’m kidding. My friend Paloma [Sandoval] and I coined the term [‘bed chem’],” she said.
“I went to the studio that day and was like, ‘I have this title and idea, and we have to make it sexy and a little bit unserious at the same time because it is such a ridiculous concept,” she added. True to her words, the song is a sultry one, where she sings about her and her partner having great chemistry in bed.

Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Taste’ Music Video Stars Jenna Ortega
Sabrina Carpenter has also released a short clip for the music video of the song ‘Taste’ and surprisingly, Jenna Ortega has appeared in the song as her ex-boyfriend’s lover in it.
In the short clip that Sabrina shared on Instagram, she can be seen selecting a knife from a variety of weapons that are tastefully arranged on a luxurious pink bed. The scene turns to Sabrina rushing up a large staircase while holding the knife aloft. She dons a blue shirt, black capris, and heels.
Later, Sabrina, dressed entirely in white, enters a bathroom and lifts a transparent curtain to see Jenna taking a shower alongside a man. Jenna’s eyes widen with shock and mild fear before the screen fades to black.
The music video will be released this Friday.
