Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin revealed that Taylor Swift’s exclusion from the other ASEAN countries except Singapore is because of a deal she has made with the country. According to the deal, Taylor can and will not perform in any other ASEAN country except for Singapore.

According to Thavisin, the singer’s concert in Singapore will be supported by an investment of around 100 million baht from the Singaporean government.

“If there are five shows, then it is 500 million baht, but the Singapore government is astute,” the minister said.

He then added, “If she came to Thailand, it would have been cheaper to organize it here, and I believe she would be able to attract more sponsors and tourists to Thailand. Even though we would have to subsidize at least 500 million baht, it would be worth it.”

While many pointed out that at the end of the day, she is simply a businesswoman and only sees her profit.

Fans are now hoping that the contract expires soon and she gets to perform in other eager ASEAN countries as well. As for the Singapore leg of her tour, Swift is performing there on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 7th, 8th, and 9th March 2024.
