Sabrina Carpenter gave a mashup performance of ‘Espresso‘, ‘Taste‘, and ‘Please Please Please‘, her three biggest singles on the VMAs stage. During the transition from ‘Taste‘ to ‘Espresso‘ the singer kissed one of the backup dancers on stage who were dressed as aliens. The moment sparked a lot of reactions from the public, one of which was from Britney Spears.

“Why is she kissing an alien onstage? I adore her. I love her to death. I didn’t understand that part. Why didn’t she kiss a girl? Like, that was weird. But I also thought that, like, the whole thing was kind of, like, weird altogether,” Britney shared.
She also then referenced a few kind words Carpenter said on the red carpet about Spears and added, “This Sabrina girl, she said my name on the red carpet. And I thought that was kind of cool because I forget that I’m famous sometimes. . Since I’m a mother and kind of gold. However, I found it somewhat cool that Sabrina Carpenter said something to me.”

Sabrina Carpenter Wins Her First VMA
The pop star also won her first ever VMA this year, winning ‘Song Of The Year’ for her smash ‘Espresso‘. In her celebratory speech she said, “I’ve literally never won one of these. This is really special. The first people I want to thank are the fans. If you clap after everything I say, they’re gonna call me off the stage, so one second. But I just want to say that you guys are the reason that I get to do what I love, but also the reason that we get to have so much fun and share music with each other. And I just feel so grateful to have the best, truly, the best fans in the world. I know it sounds cheesy, but I love you.”
She continued, “Thank you to my family, my cats and dogs that are at home watching, and thank you to the people that made “Espress” with me…I love you guys so much. I love making music with you, and I can’t wait to share more with the world. And thank you to that me espresso.”
