In the first five episodes of Season 6 Part 1, Daniel makes a shocking discovery while going through some of Mr. Miyagi’s old possessions. He finds evidence that suggests Miyagi had a much more complicated past than even he realized. Documents uncover Miyagi was once involved in a robbery and assault case forcing him to flee the country under a fake passport.

Further exploration reveals Miyagi took part in underground boxing matches and even had a past in competitive karate leading an elite team. These revelations shake Daniel to his core as the man he saw as a mentor and father figure was much more nuanced than the wise sage he thought. However, it also helps humanize Miyagi while adding new layers to understand his philosophies of balance and forgiveness.

Meanwhile, their arch-nemesis John Kreese has escaped prison and aims to destroy them once and for all by rebuilding Cobra Kai in the shadows.

The tournament promises to be an epic conclusion to the generations-long rivalry as Danny and Johnny draw from all they’ve learned from their own mentors. Mr. Miyagi’s influence will surely be felt as the two teams face off in the final showdown that wraps up the story in a fitting tribute to the character that started it all. Fans can expect the rest of season 6 to send off the classic franchise in top form while maintaining its focus on the powerful bond between student and teacher.
