Mel Gibson has established a name for himself in the Hollywood scene with his versatile talents. The actor, director, producer, and screenwriter has been a part of several iconic films such as ‘Mad Max,’ ‘Lethal Weapon,’ and ‘Braveheart,’ which he directed and starred in.

Despite his controversies due to his ‘personal behavior’ Gibson remains a prominent figure in the industry. His 2022 film ‘On The Line’ was not a fan favorite with a lot of people skipping over it. However, in a surprising turn of events the film seems to have found its designated audience after its release on Netflix.

Netflix Gives A New Life To Mel Gibson’s ‘On The Line’

On The Line’s release in 2022 was not taken while by its audience or its critics. The movie was criticized for its predictable and unrealistic twists. Additionally, it was rated 5.4/10 on IMDB and a low 20% on Rotten Tomatoes further marking its failure to intrigue people.

However, the movie which was titled as a ‘below average thriller’ had different results after its release on Netflix. After its debut on the streaming platform the movie quickly captured the 2nd spot in Netflix’s most-watched movies list. Just behind Succession star Brian Cox’s drama, ‘Mending the Line.’ Despite this, it still didn’t impress its newfound audience and remained a skip for most of the people.

What Is ‘On The Line’ About?

Shock jock Elvis Cooney (portrayed by Mel Gibson) finds himself in a life-threatening situation when a caller, Gary, claims to have his family hostage. Elvis races against time to save them. However, he uncovers a series of twists and turns, ultimately realizing it’s all an elaborate prank orchestrated by his radio station. All this led to him being both relieved and shaken. 

However, the prank takes a dangerous turn when a stunt worker involved seemingly falls to his death. Ultimately, it’s revealed that the stunt was also part of the elaborate scheme. Elvis despite being relieved was determined to exact his own revenge prank in the future.
