Netflix is undoubtedly one of the biggest streaming platforms. They have already upset many users worldwide by banning password sharing. Now, it seems that the streaming giant is not going to support the Hollywood strike with its new announcement.
Even as the SAG-AFTRA strike continues, Hollywood writers, producers, actors and many others have stopped working. The Writers Guild and SAG-AFTRA are at the picket fence fighting for their rights. With Netflix’s new announcement, users are also angry with the streaming service.
Netflix Announces New AI-Related Job Opportunity
The streaming giant has recently announced a new job opening. However, there is a catch. Netflix’s new job opening is for a Machine Learning or AI Product Manager. This product manager will have the responsibility of Netflix’s machine-learning platform (MLP). They will also be leveraging AI to “create great content” rather than solely relying on AI for recommending shows and movies.
Not only this, the product manager’s post offers a salary of $900,000. It is quite insensitive to make such an announcement when thousands are protesting against the use of AI right now. Netflix has also sought a technical director for generative AI at its gaming studio.

Netizens Are Angry Over The Job Opening Announcement
After this announcement, netizens expressed their anger and disappointment towards the streaming platform. Writer, actor and comedian Rob Delaney said, “So $900k/yr per soldier in their godless AI army when that amount of earnings could qualify thirty-five actors and their families for SAG-AFTRA health insurance is just ghoulish.”
He continued, “Having been poor and rich in this business, I can assure you there’s enough money to go around; it’s just about priorities.” As the protest continues, financial problems have been growing for the protestants. Amidst that, Netflix’s job announcement is pretty insensitive.
One user posted on Twitter writing, “Netflix please! Read the room.” While another commented, “Pay your writers“. Check out the responses right here.
Netflix is advertising for an A.I. position that would earn the candidate $900k/per year

That same figure would help qualify 35 actors and their families for health insurance.

Apples to oranges — “AI” is not all encompassing , artificial intelligence powers recommendations, algorithms, watch list, etc. I’m all for the strike but conflating it all doesn’t do anyone any favors.

Netflix already started the AI shows. On July 6, they premiered a new Spanish reality dating series, “Deep Fake Love,” in which scans of contestants’ faces and bodies are used to create AI-generated “deepfake” simulations of themselves.https://t.co/X6bmwcR5CH
