‘Scooby-Doo’ Live-Action Series Has A Script-To-Series Commitment At Netflix
According to insiders, Netflix won the bid for the ‘Scooby-Doo’ Live-Action Series and has a Script-To-Series commitment. It means that if the script of the TV series is well-received, they will make the live-action series.
Greg Berlanti will be working as the executive producer along with Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg for the Scooby-Doo and gang’s TV Series. In addition to that, Appelbaum and Rosenberg will also be taking the responsibility of writing the TV series.
WB, for the first time, will be diving into a live-action TV series for Scooby Doo. From 1969 to 2019, fans have witnessed multiple reboots of the Great Dane’s crew.
Warner Bros recently released an animated spinoff of the franchise on HBO Max, ‘Velma’, which revolved around one of the characters from Scooby-Doo’s gang.
The ‘Scooby-Doo’ live-action series will be based on William Hanna and Joseph Barbera’s widely popular cartoon series.
Fans Demand The Return Of Matthew Lillard As Shaggy
Ever since the news of the ‘Scooby-Doo’ live-action series surfaced, fans have been discussing the probable cast. One name that many are fixed on is ‘Five Nights At Freddy’s’ star Matthew Lillard.
Matthew Lillard played the role of Scooby-Doo’s best friend Shaggy in the previous ‘Scooby-Doo’ live-action movies. Even though the movies were underwhelming, Lillard impressed everyone as the snack-guzzling amateur detective.
His impersonation of Shaggy was spot on. Even critics couldn’t stop to appreciate his work despite bashing the movie overall. Additionally, He later on also voiced Shaggy in multiple projects such as 2010’s ‘Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated‘, 2015’s ‘LEGO Scooby-Doo! Knight Time Terror‘, etc.
Given his age, it is very unlikely that fans will see Matthew Lillard reprise his role as Shaggy. As of now, the creators have not revealed the cast. In addition to that, the reps for Netflix and WBTV are yet to close the deal.
