Netflix is credited for reviving many shows that were abandoned by popular networks, but it’s also true that they have canceled many fan-favorite shows. Latest in the list is Academy Award-winning actress Michelle Yeoh-starrer, ‘The Brothers Sun‘.
The cancelation has come as a shock to the cast as well as the fans as the show premiered only in 2024 and received rave reviews, along with an 84% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Now, Yeoh has expressed her grief and confusion at Netflix’s brutal decision.

Michelle Yeoh Is Proud Of ‘The Brothers Sun’ And Disappointed With Its Cancelation
The sad news about the end of ‘The Brothers Sun‘ was confirmed by Variety, while fans questioned Netflix’s reason to scrap the crime dramedy. Michelle Yeoh took to Instagram to express her shock at the cancelation and expressed how special what she and the show’s cast achieved is to her.
She wrote, “Heartbroken… and finding it so hard to understand why… however, I am so very proud of My ‘Brothers Sun’ family and what we presented to the world. heads held high.”
Justin Chien, who played Yeoh’s son Charles on ‘The Brothers Sun‘ also shared his thoughts on the abrupt cancelation of the show. He thanked the fans, the entire team, and Netflix for the opportunity. He concluded his long note by vowing to give every project his all. “Thank you all for your love. Without you, this wouldn’t mean nearly as much as it does. I gave everything I had to this show, and I can’t wait to do the same in the next project, whatever, whenever it may be — I promise I will give it my all, he wrote.

‘The Brothers Sun’ Plot
Created by Brad Falchuk and Byron Wu, ‘The Brothers Sun‘ follows Charles Sun (Justin Chien), who arrives in Los Angeles, California from Taipei, Taiwan, disrupting the blissful life of his younger brother Bruce Sun (Sam Song Li), who isn’t aware of his family’s criminal past and heritage. The Suns back in Taipei were one of the most renowned gangsters, with the brothers’ father being a hardened crime boss. Bruce lives with their mother Eileen “Mama” Sun (Michelle Yeoh) who walked away from her estranged family to build a safe life in America. However, Charles enters their life after an attempted assassination of his father and Bruce unwittingly gets dragged into the messy gangster life.
