With ‘The Witcher’ Season 3, Henry Cavill will bid adieu to his role as Geralt of Rivia. Cavill’s exit will put the Netflix show’s creative team off base as they might have to deviate from its original source or they might find a replacement if the writers wish to stay loyal to the source. ‘The Witcher’ is based on the book series of the same name, written by Andrzej Sapkowski.
Any movie or TV adaptation from a book series is bound to make changes to the original plot due to creative differences, which bothers the excited fans. However, ‘The Witcher‘ has been true to the story and is a widely accepted adaptation of Sapkowski’s book series. Moreover, ‘The Witcher‘ video games introduced their fair share of modifications to Geralt’s story but maintained the real essence of the character. Now, fans are wondering about how Henry Cavill’s character will leave the show and we have the details.

Henry Cavill To Bid Emotional Goodbye To Geralt Of Rivia On ‘The Witcher’ Season 3
‘The Witcher’ season three will leave the fans with a bittersweet memory as Henry Cavill is quitting the role of Geralt of Rivia. According to Redanian Intelligence, Cavill’s last scene as Geralt will be him giving up the title of Witcher. An unknown secondary character calls for him, yelling Witcher, to which Geralt’s response is “No, no more“. This gives the fans a direct yet subtle hint of Cavill’s last scene as Geralt of Rivia.
The showrunner Lauren Hissrich also agrees with how perfectly this scene will sync in honor of Henry Cavill’s last portrayal of Geralt. Hissrich commented, “Geralt’s big turn is about giving up neutrality and doing anything that he has to do to get to Ciri. And to me, it’s the most heroic sendoff that we could have, even though it wasn’t written to be that. Geralt has a new mission in mind when we come back to him in Season 4. He’s a slightly different Geralt than we expected. Now, by the way, that’s an understatement.”

Liam Hemsworth To Continue Henry Cavill’s Geralt Of Rivia Legacy
‘The Witcher’ will be moving forward with season four but without Henry Cavill playing Geralt of Rivia. According to Dateline, the ‘Man of Steel‘ actor left the show due to the series’ demanding schedule. Cavill led the series in the first two seasons and he will be seen in the third season as well. However, Marvel star Chris Hemsworth’s baby brother Liam Hemsworth will be taking over the role of Geralt of Rivia in season 4. Although, some fans speculate that Henry decided to leave the show due to creative differences.
In a social media post, Henry Cavill wrote, “My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for season 4… As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men.” It’ll certainly be an emotional goodbye to a fan-favorite character.
