‘Virgin River’ might be a romance drama at heart, but the drama part really kicks in with the many mysteries and tragedies that befall the residents of the picturesque town. Be it wildfires or burning passion, the story certainly is engaging.
The season 6 finale made Mel and Jack a married couple, and they might be getting a baby. But there’s another duo whose lives are about to change – Brie and Mike. Yes, he proposed, while knowing about Brie’s secret affair with Brady. But the question remains: why would Mike ignore Brie’s transgressions?
Mike Wants To Marry Brie Despite Her Confession Of Sleeping With Brady
‘Virgin River’ has been playing with Brie, Brady, and Mike’s love triangle for a while now. Sure, Brie and Brady have raw attraction, something they give in to in their low moments. After all, both have had a dark past. On the other hand, Mike is the good guy who gets the girl without knowing what to do with her dangerous edge.

So, Brie is torn. She loves both men but knows Mike is a safe choice while Brady can pull her down with him. And Mike is the man her brother Jack approves of too. Yet, she cares about Brady.
In Season 6 of the Netflix series, Brie exposes Brady’s girlfriend Lark’s shady motives. He feels vulnerable and blames himself for his poor luck in love. This is followed by a heated moment where Brie and Brady come together.
Of course, Brie isn’t a bad person. She feels horrible and divulges this secret to Jack, Mel, and Kaia. She knows she has to make a tough choice. However, Mike proposes to her and after her teary cheating confession, he says “I know.”
It’s possible that Mike had a strong intuition and read Brady and Jack’s faces at the mention of Brie earlier in the episode. Or, he could’ve overheard Brie’s confession, but it’s highly unlikely. We are sure none of Brie’s confidantes would’ve told Mike. So, the best explanation is his cop instincts.
Why Did Brie Have An Affair With Brady In ‘Virgin River’?
It seems despite Brie’s better judgment, she can’t stay away from Brady. They have a magnetic pull. She knows he has his demons and will not judge her for not keeping everything together all the time. Brady too understands Brie is the better part of him. So, despite seeing different partners in Season 6, Brie and Brady can’t shake each other from their minds. There are always longing looks.
Brie might not have wanted to admit her jealousy over Brady’s relationship with Lark, but she definitely had some unresolved issues. Why else would she have drunk-called Brady from Mel’s bachelorette party? And, she can’t quite discard their one-night stand from her mind. Mike has been a perfectly decent boyfriend to Brie and surely deserves better, but that can’t happen till Brie works through her own issues. She desperately wants to love Mike with her whole heart, but there is something amiss.

To make matters more complicated, in a typical tortured hero fashion, Brady tells Brie he is still in love with her at Mel and Jack’s wedding. He assures her that he will do anything to protect her.
After all this upheaval, will Brie take Mike as her husband, or choose Brady? Maybe she will take some time for herself. That’s a plot to be uncovered in ‘Virgin River’ Season 7.
