Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things‘ is an American sci-fi series that began in 2016. It has been successful in captivating audiences with its amazing cast, supernatural plot, and its 80’s setup. The show revolves around a group of young boys and a telekinetic girl who battle Cold War-era Russians and interdimensional villains that threaten the existence of their hometown, Hawkins.
Season one chiefly focuses on the disappearance of Will Byers who was abducted by certain creatures and Barara Holland, who was killed by them. These circumstances were covered up by Hawkin Lab’s agents. Although, the second and third seasons expand the narrative scope, exploring the complex fallout from the events of November 1983. The fourth season further expands the show’s scope, with knee-deep storylines taking place outside of Hawkins for the first time. Sadly, the fifth season is the final season. If you are wondering where all this drama was filmed, let us tell you.
Where Is Hawkins? Is It A Fictional Town?
The show takes place in the fictional town of Hawkins in the US state of Indiana around the mid-1980s. It all started in November, during an experiment that went extremely wrong. One of the test subjects, Eleven, played by Millie Bobby Brown, accidentally opened a portal to an ulterior dimension, allowing predatory creatures into Hawkins. These creatures abducted the citizens and straightway brought them to another dimension causing havoc.
Though ‘Stranger Things‘ is set in the imaginary town of Hawkins, Indiana, most of its subsequent scenes were shot in Georgia. It is a longtime favorite destination of Hollywood directors primarily because of its generous filming tax breaks and other financial incentives that have attracted popular shows like ‘The Walking Dead‘ and ‘Cobra Kai‘. The fourth and latest season of ‘Stranger Things‘ splits its shooting destination into three main in-universe locations: Southern mid-California (which is Albuquerque, New Mexico), Hawkins (Altlanta, Georgia), and a remote Russian prison (Vilnius, Lithuania).

4. Stone Mountain Park
The famous outdoor sequences of ‘Stanger Things‘ was shot in this park. In the rail tracks from season one, the gang runs with Eleven into the woods, and when Dustin and Steve bond over a girl’s advice in the forest, all of which was shot at this famous park.
