‘Alita: Battle Angel’ has been one of the most successful science fiction films despite that its box office reports were not up to the mark. The film was still not a box office failure and following that, audiences have been eagerly waiting for a sequel. While they believe that the extensive visual effects could be the reason behind the delay, the truth is that the producers have not greenlit it.
The film was inspired by the manga series Gunnm and featured Rosa Salazar in the lead role. The film was in development hell for a long time as the producers James Cameron and Jon Landau were busy with other commitments. The first film was released in 2019 and there have been talks of a sequel.

Jon Landau Gives An Update On ‘Alita: Battle Angel 2’
Jon Landau and James Cameron collaborated as producers for one of the biggest box-office hits in the history of Hollywood – ‘Avatar: The Way of Water.’ During the premiere of the sequel, the producers were questioned about a sequel for Alita and Landau responded by saying:
“Well, there’s a little film called Alita: Battle Angel that we’d love to circle back and do a sequel to. Been talking to Robert [Rodriguez] about that and hopefully, that comes to fruition.”
Although Landau and Cameron did not confirm anything, the former’s comments hinted that the producers are working on a sequel. However, we might have to wait for a few years until the sequel hits the big screen.

A Potential Plot For ‘Alita: Battle Angel 2’
For now, all we can expect is that the sequel might feature Alita going to Zalem and confronting Nova. Moreover, in the first film, audiences witnessed the lead character raising her blade to the air and getting ready to rake over Nola in Zalem.
In the end, Alita saw Hugo being shredded to pieces by a serrated defense ring and she had already fallen in love with him by then. Hugo was determined to reach the land of Zalem but only after Alita was forced to take Hugo’s head and turn him into a cyborg.
Alita will possibly take revenge for Hugo’s death or search for his parts and she could fix him with the help of Ido and Dr. Chiren. Another possibility could be the introduction of another antagonist for the sequel.
