Billionaire Elon Musk often has a rift with companies, individuals, and nations. The most recent country that he has irked is the People’s Republic of China. They have warned him.

According to a CNBC report, a Chinese state-run media called the Global Times has issued a warning against Musk. This is in regard to sharing any post or tweet that promotes the Wuhan lab leak theory of the COVID-19 virus.

The newspaper has said that these kinds of comments could damage the relationship between the electric car maker Tesla Inc. and China. China is Tesla’s second-largest market in the world. This comes right after Musk responded to a tweet referencing the Department of Energy report that COVID-19 originated at a lab in Wuhan.

It is a well-known fact that China doesn’t like people expressing their opinions freely. This includes their citizens, who are closely monitored, and people from other countries as well.

After receiving criticism over the handling of the pandemic, China has been trying to control the narrative regarding the origin of the virus. Recently, they put out severe restrictions after a surge in COVID cases.

The Chinese newspaper said that such comments could “break the pot of China.” Apart from being Tesla’s second-largest market on this planet, China is also the house of its manufacturing plants in Shanghai. It would be interesting to see how Musk handles this situation.
